Huawei has recently turned into one of the most sought after brands in the world despite being operational for around 20+ years now. The Chinese telecom goods manufacturing company has produced some staggering smartphones particularly the Honor 5X, Mate8 and G8 which have received worldwide recognition because of their superiority in every department they’ve competed in.
The Ascend series comprises of some of Huawei’s best and worst smartphones. The series is one of Huawei’s oldest and contains smartphones in all sorts of price brackets. The Ascend G700 is another of its siblings which was released with a lot of promise on its head but did it do enough to be recognized among Huawei’s or the world’s best?
The phone was released in the year 2013. This was the year when Samsung arguably made their best increment to the Galaxy S series after the bitter disappointment of the Galaxy S3 falling way short of people’s expectations both in terms of design and performance. While the Galaxy S4 did outfox it by some margin, others such as the Galaxy Grand did not find it easy with the Ascend G700.
While assessing the G700, we found some of its features to be extremely disappointing. The first and foremost thing that would disappoint anyone is its design. It has no identity of its own and it is extremely simple, mirroring a lot of QMobile devices and some of Huawei’s own phones as well. The processor, a Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 isn’t one of the most exciting ones but fortunately a beefy 2GB RAM might be able to turn some tables around.
The primary and secondary cameras are fine and do well to display good quality on the 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. However, a pixel density at 294 ppi won’t give us a reason to smile about and neither should it to you.
The question which should arise in your mind is that is the Ascend G700 value for money when you do decide to look for a smartphone. The answer is yes but for us, it is not good enough particularly as its design is extremely monotonous and its display is definitely not one of Huawei’s best.
