The Huawei Honor 5C is the latest in Huawei’s Honor C series of budget smartphones. It succeeds the Honor 4C, and comes with a number of small but important changes that make the phone a pretty solid deal. We expect the Honor 5C to compete with the likes of Lenovo’s Vibe K5 Plus, Samsung J series, and of course so many different offerings from QMobile.
Body & Display
For a budget phone, the Honor 5C comes with a rather premium design. It comes with an aluminum unibody design much like the iPhone and HTC One series. The aluminum is of a relatively high quality, and is thus lighter in weight when compared to the Honor 4C.
The display is a 5.2” Full HD IPS LCD which is again amazing for the price. Full HD displays are more than enough for a sharp viewing experience. We’re told the colors on this display are great as well.
Camera
We’re impressed by the selfie camera on the Honor 5C. It’s an 8MP wide-angle camera that’s great for taking near-panoramic selfies. The primary camera is a 13MP camera which can record Full HD 1080p video. There’s also an LED flash.
Hardware Performance
Huawei has gone ahead with a Snapdragon 650 octa-core chip running at 2GHz. This will deliver performance that is best in class. 2GB RAM is decent for medium-level multi-tasking, too. Honor 5C also supports 4G, so it’ll run well on Zong, Warid and soon Telenor’s 4G networks. We’re a tad disappointed by the 16GB of internal storage, however. It should be 32GB by now, as that is considered standard.
We’re also impressed by the 3,000 mAh battery that comes with the Honor 5C. It’s not removable, though.
Software
The phone comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with Huawei’s custom UI ‘Emotion’ running on top.
